Tony Innes: Board Member
With both parents Dean & Willie being veteran bashers in SA (25 + bashes between them, I decided when we moved to the NT that I would join Variety quick smart & get in on the action. Going to Variety fundraisers was part of our lives since my teens so I knew what it was all about. In May 2006 I went into the Variety office at Berrimah and left my name with Vicky hoping to get a ride in a bash car to Port Douglas. Six weeks or so passed & no ride, so Vicky suggested would I be interested in being an official. So after minimal preparation and one and a half hours sleep after the Bash launch at Crustaceans on the Wharf we were off to Port Douglas. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself as an official for the past 3 years but the time has come to experience the Bash as a Basher. I will be Bashing with 'Dave' alias 'Ugly', 'Jules the gypsy' and 'Aunty' Dave‘s sister. Not sure where Aunty comes from but? We are still working on a theme but we are well and truly on the way to being fully prepared for the Bash. Yeah right! See you all in Alice for 2009! Go you NT bashers. Let’s make it the best yet! |
