About Variety NT

It all started in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA on Christmas Eve in 1928 when a group of 11 Showmen found a baby girl abandoned in the Sheridan Theatre.

Attached to the baby was a note pleading for Catherine to be cared for, as her 'broken hearted mother' had 'heard of the goodness of show business people'. Catherine Variety Sheridan was looked after by one of the Variety members and the group soon found that their fundraising abilities could help many other children as well.

Her story became an inspiration to help children everywhere and since those early beginnings, Variety has become an international organisation, operating in 14 countries and raising over $2.4 billion to help children in need throughout the world.

In 2004 Variety NT was priveledged to become Tent 82 at the International Convention.

In the Northern Territory, Variety has raised over $3 million for our special children.
